How to Make Payroll Easier

Let’s be honest, payroll sucks.  There’s no way to pretty it up.  So much of a small business owner's time is taken up with payroll.  Employment documents, making schedules, changing schedules, finding employees to cover shifts, chasing down timecards,  assessing timecards to make sure employees aren’t stealing time, processing quarterly state & federal reports, processing annual reports & W2’s, making sure payments are made for taxes.  It’s exhausting and time consuming.

There is a better  way.  You can save that time so that you could be spending it on working your business and making it grow.

Homebase

There is an amazing app called Homebase that will help you manage employee schedules and timesheets.  You can create a schedule and set alerts to let you know if an employee is late, early, hasn’t clocked out or has clocked in out of schedule.  You can see and control it anywhere from your device.  No more chasing down information or reviewing timesheets vs schedule to see if an employee is entering more time than they should have.  This app will not only save you time but will potentially save you money.

Gusto

Another amazing app called Gusto will take care of the payroll for your company.  Here is what they take care of:

  • Digital Payroll Docs: W4 & I-9

  • Processing Payroll

  • Direct Deposits

  • Child Support Payments

That’s a lot of time and responsibility off your plate!

Subcontractors

You can also pay subcontractors with Gusto and they will issue the 1099’s at the end of there for you.

Getting Started

Sign up for Gusto.  Enter your company information and proceed through the setup.  Enter your employee information or have Gusto send them an email to have them enter the information.

Once you have a Gusto account, sign up for your Homebase account.  Now import your employees from Gusto.

Start using your Homebase app to make schedules and track employees time.  When you’re ready to process payroll, select the timesheets you want to pay and export to Gusto.

We use both of these apps for multiple clients and it has saved us countless hours.  We hope you love them too!
